Did you know that in Canada, the word “holiday” is synonymous for “vacation?”
So if you were taking a holiday vacation, you would either be speaking superfluously or taking a vacation vacation.
In the United States, holiday has become a commonly used euphemism for Christmas, without the religious meaning. So a holiday vacation could be a Christmas vacation.
